Ceylon has been famous for heroes who made different stories and this person born on English time in here. This story about Uthuwankande sura Saradil’s or Sri Lankan Robin Hood who fought for poor people.  He was a great humanitarian who fought against injustice. ‘Saradiel’ who is was born in 1832 during the time Ceylon was under British rule. And He was countless engagements with the British. ‘Saradiel’ was the leader of a gang who gained notoriety for attacking British interest and robbing them of their riches and given to Poor People. Because of that he was won the heart of the villagers and on many occasions when the British authorities were looking to catch him, the villagers helped ‘Saradiel’ to escape. Though later captured by British police after many escapes. To made respect to him “The Saradiel Village” born by Dr. Ariyasena U.Gamage.
Saradiel Village is located close to the predominant Moorish city in Sabaragamuwa called Mawanella. The legend located at the foothills of Uthuwankanda, the rocky mountain which had been his hiding place. Saradiel Village reminds you of the spirit of anti-colonialism prevailed in these parts of the world. A visitor to Saradiel Park can enjoy a guided tour which will take one through the life of the famous outlaw from childhood to his execution with life-size sculptures bringing to life the important personalities of the time.
