Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage is among the biggest herds of
captive elephants in the world. The Orphanage is the first of its kind in the
world where abandoned and disabled elephants get lot of love, care and
protection. It is one of the world's best elephant breeding centers. Pinnawela
is a place an elephant lover would never forget.
The Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage remains open for the
visitors from 8.30 in the morning to 4 in the evening. The elephants are taken
out from the orphanage to graze for a couple of hours in the morning. Then they
are taken to the nearby Ma Oya river. In the noon the elephants are fed. Then
again the animals are again taken to the river and they are brought back to the
orphanage.
By visiting Pinnawala Elephant orphanage, clients can enjoy
the playing and bathing of adorable baby elephants while observing the daily
routines on them. This includes feeding through bottles and bathing in the
Ma-Oya River.
